Literature Review 3

Taking under consideration all fashion trends when becoming a fashion stylist is a key aspect to keeping my clients happy and interested in my work. I must keep up with all the latest fashion trends for all four seasons. Taking this into consideration helped me choose my essential question of what are fashion trends for fall, winter, spring and summer in 2013-2014? I chose this essential question because I think it will help me perfect my collection better. I also wanted to see what the newest fashion trends were for winter, spring and summer of 2014 so I can apply them to my collection. Fashion trends are a certain style that comes about that everyone likes and wants to wear. Fashion trends can come from styles that were hot a while back and just happened to pop back into style or something completely new.  I love to see what new trends are coming out which old ones come back in to style and how long they will stay hot on the market. The two sources I used were websites http://www.harpersbazaar.com and http://living.msn.com. These sources me very reliable and gave me useful information with giving me multiple examples of new and old fashion trends.

Fashion trends very over the years they are always changing. Fall and winter have mostly some of the same trends . Camel might be on the forefront of fashion these days, but this chic hue has never had a passé moment when it comes to coats. Seen on the shoulders of Grace Kelly and Katherine Hepburn and now Cameron Diaz, this classic topper is the epitome of luxury and glamour (20 timeless winter staples). Chunky, cabled knits are always great for warming up by the fire on a white, winter night, but the borrowed-from-boys cardigans have just as much staying power on the street  as in the store (20 timeless winter staples). A chic turtleneck and pair of flattering leggings are the basis for thousands of winter layering combinations (20 timeless winter staples). While aviators are summer's unofficial sunglass shape, oversized ones are winter's equivalent. They cover up dry, wind-chapped skin and add unique style glamour to your jeans and coat uniform attire (20 timeless winter staples). Seriously easy, and equally chic, a sweater dress is a wintertime no-brainer. Whether cabled and mini, or long and sleek, deciding what boots to show off will be your only worry (20 timeless winter staples). Boots that hit right at the knee have a timeless appeal, not to mention flatter most leg shapes. They look great tucked into jeans and add a cool touch to tights and a dress (20 timeless winter staples). Luxury is always in style, darling. Whether fox or faux, a glamorous fur coat will always keep you chic and cozy, plus take the guesswork out of topping your LBD. But remember these are modern times, and jeans make an equally perfect pairing too. (20 timeless winter staples)  Literally the perfect transition coat, a leather jacket is surprisingly warm, without being bulky. Featuring all the biker bells and whistles, it instantly adds street style cred to your look (20 timeless winter staples). Leopard print is a season less classic and the easiest way to wear it during the bitter months of winter is with an oversize scarf; it adds instant style without animal overkill (20 timeless winter staples). Rules concerning white are so passé. Simply trade your bright white skinny jeans for a slouchy wool pair. Add a touch of metallic and a tailored jacket (20 timeless winter staples). Tartan plaid, glen paid, or buffalo check, plaid is to winter what flowers are to spring. Look for a wrap in a patterned fabric you can't go wrong with it (20 timeless winter staples).
Spring and summer fashions have mostly some of the same trends too. Skinny, thick or horizontal, this carry-over trend instantly brightens our wardrobe. Wear them diagonal or vertical to shave pounds off your appearance, or go bold with horizontal strips – classic Coco Chanel style. Strips never go out of style and they look forward to seeing more contemporary interpretations of this trend in the New Year. (Biggest fashion trends of 2013) Where to start with this forgettable fashion? More MC Hammer circa mid-1990s than haute couture, many celebs including Gwen Stefani and Jennifer Lopez, all tried to rock this look – and did it well. Yes, these pants DO make your butt look big. (Biggest fashion trends of 2013) “Ruffles are back, but now modernized in streamlined non-frilly and supersized proportions in new vertical placements. Girlie is dead, but feminine lives on.” Says Michelle Henley of FashionEdits.com (Biggest fashion trends of 2013).  Pearlescent and iridescent fabrics and lots of shiny and metallic textures  will be big in denim for 2013. While those treatments will add a little subtle glamour to denim, I also see distressing making a comeback for in the New Year (Biggest fashion trends of 2013).  High wastes shorts and pants also made a big come back in spring and summer ‘13 and are expected to make the same impact in spring and summer ‘14. (Biggest fashion trends of 2013).

My research answered my essential question by showing me many different fashion trends and styles that have evolved over the years and new styles and going to in this year. In my research I found information about what certain styles go better together than others and which ones don’t. Knowing these fashion trends will help gain and keep more clients because they will trust my fashion sense and know that I can help them look good. My research also showed me examples of how to put outfits together for each season (fall, winter, spring, summer). My research help contribute to my project by showing my multiple fashion trends and I can to this under consideration and apply this information when styling my collection.
